i know too many zai people who are pursuing zai dreams and doing zai things, that sometimes i cant help but ask myself if im doing enough, dreaming enough.
i wish i have the passion to heal the world, or the linguistic prowess to be a lawyer, or is sufficiently numerically astute to thrive in the lucrative financial industry.
but it seems like the only field that is immediately open to me now that will potentially excite me is the field of marketing, which, unfortunately, doesnt seem to belong to the zai league. of course, such is a very superficial view. zai is subjective, and remuneration is but the only way to measure the zai-ness of any occupation.
this is further reaffirmed during my visit to L'oreal on Friday to interview Willi and Darren as required for my job.
they broadened my definition of zai. even though they are no doctor, no lawyer, and no financial analyst, they are nevertheless awe-inspiring in their own way. at least, they changed my perception of a marketeer. talking to them completely blew me off; they exude such confidence, poise and charm in their every move, and i can feel their passion and drive even as they speak. if they are examplary marketeers, i sure have a long way more to go.
after the session, marketing became an even more attractive option for me as marketing at work is really not as narrow as i thought it is. more importantly, i became inspired to be someone who can present myself as well as them :)
